Merimbula Lake is actually two linked tidal lakes on the far south coast of New South Wales. The town of Merimbula lies on the northern shore of the back lake and the front lake is in the centre of town. The back lake is quieter and features a boardwalk, oyster leases and a great little waterside cafe. The front lake see a lot of activity, particularly in holiday time with kayaking, swimming, and during the season (Spring), whale watching trips. The back lake is a favourite place as it attracts a wide range of shore and other birds and is a great place for locals and visitors to relax. gh
