Tambo

Tambo is a small country town famous for two unexpected things – Teddy Bears and Racing Chickens. And it has more to offer, with an interesting museum set in a precinct of old buildings, art galleries, a couple of pubs, and a memorial to the first crash by Australia’s national airline, QANTAS. Tambo Teddies is a must visit with locally hand-made Teddy Bears of every size, shape and colour you can imagine. Ben’s racing chickens are “stabled” at the Royal Carrangarra Hotel with a nightly race meeting except during the heat of summer. Ben is highly entertaining, the chickens colourful and enthusiastic and proceeds go to local charities. The winner on the night of our visit was a chicken called Beyonce. It’s a guaranteed laugh.
